I was going to the grocery store and I had seen a black figure lying on the road to my left. I drove past it and I experienced this eerie feeling that this thing was staring at me. I stopped in front of it and a head of a black cat looked up at me. The poor thing was hurt.
I had a blanket in the back of my car, got it out, and cried to myself, "Oh no ...!" and scooped it up expecting it to be in a pool of blood. Turns out there wasn't any, but it did have a broken tail and it's legs were crossed and was still able to move. The next day, I took it to the local animal shelter. I think it might have been abused by someone.
tl;dr: What situations have you been in with animals? (funny, angering, sad, whatever).

Well my partner and I bought a dog from a rescue shelter in early December. Absolutely gorgeous dog he was. Extremely loving, gentle but a little excitable. My partner and I were willing to work with him to get him up to a great dog...
Unfortunately today we took him back to the shelter because he has destroyed our house (ate everything) and decided it is good to do the toilet all over the house. This is only a rented home so I cannot fair well keep the problem causer. It broke our hearts but we had to send him back. I do so hope that he finds a good home who will support him and love him as much as we did but can afford to keep replacing valuable stuff he breaks...
Animal Cruelty is atrocious I hate people who abuse animals though and it sickens me to the pit of my stomach when I bare witness to it or see the effects of it. Just so unfortunate when you cannot do everything for all of them.

My mum ran over a cat once, thing was still alive and going fucking mad. It was so awkward explaining why I was late for school that morning.

God I can only imagine Deano.
I remember my gran's old dog got hit by a car and it survived they had to take it to the vet holding it's intestines inside a big gaping hole. The driver didn't even stop...

When I was in the fifth grade, my mum was dropping me off at school when these two stay Boxers wondered in front of our Tahoe. Well, since my mum loves animals and has to work with them daily at her job, she pulled one into her truck, dropped me off, and then went to try to find the owner(s). Well, she went into this one yard to ask if they owned the dog, and she got bit by a pit bull, so she ended up suing them, winning, and we had kept the boxer until she decided to run away. T_T

My family's dog, Finnigan, is the cutest thing ever, but he'll only allow about 8 people anywhere near him. Anyone who bends down to coo and pet and giggle will be growled at, and if they still try to touch him, snapped at.
He's never hurt anyone, and the only reason he's so defensive is that he was abused as a pup. It's hard to see him like that because I know he wants to greet these new people, but he has this crippling fear of getting hurt by them. It's heartbreaking, but we keep him anyway because we know no one else could take him.

At least you kept him though Infinity that is a great thing. Takes a lot to keep a nippy dog.

Yeah, I remember when my old Labrador had an car actually stop on top of him. He was stuck curled under the car and couldn't move. I was young then, so I ran away to tell my mom. Somehow he was removed from beneath the vehicle and was okay.
Geez, what sad stories so far. Does anyone have something well, nice to tell? Maybe on Caturday ... ?

I remember back in the late 90's me and a friend were out playing football. Eventually we got bored and just went for a walk about the area. Then we came accross this pigeon which had a broken wing or something. And being the kind kid I was back then, I decided to take it round to this woman my family knew who dealt with injured animals, seeing asthough I didnt want to poor we thing to die. Ah yes, I was a kind loving wee lad back then .....
But then the little bastard pecked me, and it was fucking sore, so I just found a box and stuck it in there so it couldnt get out. Of course, after a few minutes it managed to crawl out from under the box and get free ..... then my friend picked up a stick and stabbed the poor thing right in the back with it, and it looked up with the creepiest eyes I've ever seen in an animal. It looked asthough it was possessed, and it was calling on all it's "Demon Pigeon Friends" to come and get me and my friend. The two of us just about shat ourselves, and ran all the way down the street.
We went back the next day and it had been crushed to death.
Just goes to show how you can go from being a kind-hearted kid, to an short-tempered kid, to a fearful kid.

I've been in a situation with a pigeon before. For some reason, there are a handful of dead pigeons here in the neighborhood I live it. My sister and I were riding our bikes and we did happen to come across a dead one. We were with our friend too, and well, we were on bikes, so my sister just rode over it. Then our friend slowly moved onto the head and crushed it. I couldn't stand to watch it, even though I knew it was dead. My dog likes to chase pigeons, not to mention there is a lot of stray animals around here. They could be the reason why all these pigeon bodies are everywhere.

Eh, well one time a few years ago, I'd see a lot of dead birds on the street. The wind probably blew them out of their nests. Poor things, blown away by the wind.
Another time, my brother and I was walking to the park, and we saw a dead duck on the ground. Our assumption was that it was attacked by a dog

Remember once when I saw a pidgeon when I was walking down from school one day...thought it'd fly away as I approached it, but it was just jumping around so I realised that it must be hurt...It ran into someones yard, but I ran in and snatched it, took it home. I gave it some stuff to eat and something to drink...about 3-4 days later it was fine again. <3

I remeber one day my dad bring home a duckling that followed him into work. I quickly adopted it but one night I forgot to lock it into its cage and the next morning all I found was feathers. I still don't know if it was a dog or a fox that got the duck.
Now I've got a 12 week old kitten that loves to sit on my bed and interupt me while I'm doing my homework, by either sitting in my lab, on my book exactly were I'm writing our trying to eat my pens. The latter must be my fault because I usually play with her with my pens. And the kittens mother always meows at me for food, but she's half Siamese.

Saw a stray doggie that got hit by a car once back in junior high. My friend decided to go help, I tagged along out of pity. We got to save it by calling the humane society but it was before the bus came so my attendance record suffered for it. But hey it was for something better, am I right?

They should of understood why you were late, it'd be inhuman to just leave a hurt dog like that.
