Yeah, I'm re-doing all these little bastards.

Attire should be updated whitin the next couple of days, when I get around to drawing a picture. And, of course, when I do, that will be up here too.

:: GENERIC INFORMATION

:: » FULL NAME: Nocturne Amadeus Kaine

:: » NICKNAMES: Noct

:: » SEX: Male

:: » DATE OF BIRTH: 3rd of July (21 years)

:: » SPECIES: Lynx

:: » OCCUPATION: Musician/Unemployed

:: » ABILITIES: Nocturne has an amazing knack for stealth, and his cautious, alert nature and his cunning come in handy when he must negotiate himself out of a tight situation. He has quick, cat-like reflexes, perfect when being approached by a stealthy enemy. He is able to scale walls made of rough surfaces such as brick, some types of rock, and unfinished wood, and can navigate very well on rooftops, leaping from building to building nearly silently. He can play the violin incredibly well due to his agility and his keen ears.

:: » DISABILITIES/WEAKNESSES: Although a clever, sneaky killer, Nocturne does not fare well in fair, face-to-face fights. Should he fail in creeping up behind his victim and doing away with him or her straight-off, he prefers to abandon the victim to avoid any form of struggle. Should he have to choice but to fight an opponent, it is unlikely he will emerge victorious unless the foe proves incredibly weak (or if he resorts to some form of “cheap shot”) He is weakened considerably when exposed to sunlight, and if exposed to large amounts, he will become physically ill, and may even pass out until he is taken into the shade.

:: APPEARANCE

:: » HEIGHT: 5’ 7”

:: » WEIGHT: 138 LBS

:: » FUR COLOUR: LIGHT GREY/WHITE

:: » BODY: Nocturne is of average build, with a thin frame and somewhat-toned arms and legs. His fur is pale white, with a scar running across the left side of his neck.

:: » DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: A dark grey marking tracing the path of a vein, starting at his wrist and winding up to a small scar in the left side of his neck

:: » ATTIRE: Nocturne dresses in a silver grey t-shirt with black markings on the upper chest/just below the collar. Beneath that is a long-sleeved blue shirt, the sleeves of which are normally pushed up to about halfway up the forearm. His pants are black, with grey markings along the bottom of each pant leg. A black silver-studded belt is often worn. Shoes are black, and often worn on top of black and blue barred socks.

:: » DISLIKES: Not being in control, large crowds, chaos, bright lights, daytime, greed, vulgarity, excessive heat, beer, milk and dairy foods, telephones, cars

:: » HABITS: A constant need to be in control and to have the upper hand in situations. Also, a bad habit of chewing his nails when he’s nervous

:: » GENERAL OUTLINE: Nocturne is mysterious, distant and with a need for order. He feels he must be in control of any situation, and will often attempt to gain charge should he not be given it. This characteristic, along with his aloof nature, often gives the impression of arrogance, and has turned many friends against him in his lifetime. However, as much as he enjoys having complete control of things, he does not handle mass amounts of attention well and much prefers to be left to his own business. Reserved as he is, his friends are infinitely dear to him, and he handles his relationships with a tender, caring attitude.

:: » SEXUALITY: Bisexual

:: » MARITAL STATUS: Single. He usually takes romantic interest in females, who are often quick to write him off as a friend due to his reserved nature and passiveness. A relationship with a female rarely lasts more than two or three dates. He is more direct when interested in a male, but these relationships often escalade into purely sexual relationships, and before long both parties tire of the other and the passion is fades away.

:: BACKGROUND

Nocturne was raised in a protective, loving family. His father shared a large company with his childhood friend, Atticus Pracziteles, and the family was quite wealthy and happy. Solla did not work and spent her time raising Nocturne. She was a deep believer in etiquette and taught Nocturne the manners he to this day still exercises, and introduced him to the violin. Lentica and Solla occasionally argued, mostly about Lentica’s business decisions, but overall the family got along well.

At a party celebrating the retirement of Atticus I and the appointment of his son, Atticus II (Nocturne’s friend since birth), as the new co-owner of Attica Enterprises, the new heir to the company saw an opportunity to expand his assets, and Nocturne was introduced to an unfriendly puma named Luna.

The following night, an assassin broke into the Kaine household, killing first Solla and then Lentica. He then closed in on young Nocturne, but shortly after delivering the fatal wound, the assassin was attacked and killed by none other than Luna.

She bargained with the boy as he laid there, half-conscious. “You’ve just inherited half of this company. Your parents are dead. I can save you; I can give you your life back. I just need you to give me your share of the company.” Nocturne had never cared for his father’s business anyway, and he certainly valued his own life more than any enterprise, so he agreed to Luna’s terms. She sliced her own hand with the fallen assassin’s knife, and let her blood drip through his lips. Nocturne’s strength returned, and though he knew not the how and why of the situation, he in so much shock that he didn’t bother to ask. She took what documents she needed from him and was prepared to take her leave when her own conscious stopped her. Nocturne had no idea yet of just what he was.

“Oh, hey… Don’t expect things to – I mean…” She stumbled. “Uh… Stay out of the sun. Things are a little different for you now.”

After reporting the incident to the police, Nocturne was promptly thrown in jail, and as time went on he grew more and more aware of the situation he know had on his hands. He knew something unnatural had happened that night. Two days after that traumatic night, Nocturne was released from jail. Obviously, he had killed the assassin in self-defense, and was in such a state of shock that he believed he’d actually died and been brought back to life by Luna, who supposedly had never owned any shares to the company.

The next morning found him in a cheap motel. The sun was too harsh for him, so he’d taken to sleeping during the day, and his father’s remaining assets were frozen for the time being. We woke an hour or so before dusk find Luna lounging on the foot of the bed.

“You’re in one piece, I see?” She smirked.

“Nn, what did you do to me?” Came his sluggish response.

“You mean you still haven’t put it together?”

Silence, and a curt shake of the head.

“Shit, kid. Have you taken a peek in the mirror lately?” She cocked an eyebrow and looked him over.

“What?,,,”

She rolled her eyes as dramatically as possible and peeled herself from her spot. She rifled through her bag by the foot of the bed and brought a small compact to his side.

In the mirror, Nocturne found a zombie of his former self. His eyes were pale, almost lifeless. His face seemed aching, tired.

“I’ve been through a lot…”

“Yeah, yeah. Your teeth?”

He watched his reflection force a half-smile, half-grimace, and dropped the compact in his lap. He stared ahead for a moment, unsure, delirious, then turned and looked up a Luna for some sort of affirmation.

“Fangs” Came her reply. She seemed genuinely interested in him for once.

“So, this is….” He started, stopped, started again: “This is how you rescued me?”

“’Rescued’ is a big word, kid. But yeah.”

“…So what does this all mean? Do I live…forever?” He was struggling to keep his own voice study.

“Hardly. But you will live longer than you would otherwise. You’ll get used to it. It’s not a bad life. I enjoy it, to be honest.”

This was too much. He wasn’t able to process it. He ran over the events of that night in his head once more.

“The company. You never took my father’s shares.”

“Oh, I took them. I used them. They’re not in my name anymore. And if anyone asks, I was nowhere near you that night, okay? We had a close call with those policemen. If I’d meant to keep those shares, I would have had just the nastiest luck…”

“Who did you give them to?”

“No one. Mind your own business, okay, kid?”

Silence.

“So, what do I do now? Are you going to teach me how to live? I mean, I have to…you know.”

She sighed. “It’s almost night – almost morning. I’ve got things to do. You’ll figure it out, won’t you?”

“I think I’m going to be sick…” Still that blank stare. The boy was lost.

“That’s just the thirst. You haven’t fed yet. Do it tonight, or you’ll be dead by tomorrow.”

Silence again, a pleading glance from Nocturne.

“I’ve got things to do, kid,” she repeated. “Just hang in there. Your instincts will do most of the work for you. Just don’t drink dead blood.” And with that, she left.

Nocturne managed to pick up his vampirism quickly enough, learning the hard way what ‘dead blood’ meant (the darkened vein in his arm is a result of continuing to drink the blood of a victim after they’d died – dead blood) and other important lessons. As time passed, he became aware that Luna would not return to look out for him anymore, and that she probably believed him to be dead. He became self-sufficient and hardened his heart to her.

Currently, he is visiting various cities, under the guise of a touring musician, in search of clues to the whereabouts of the Pracziteles family, who he knows to be responsible for the death of his parents, though he knows not which of the Pracziteles men are to blame. He keeps his vampirism a secret from just about all of his friends, until there is no choice but to tell them the truth. He regards it as a dirty thing, a shameful curse, and has vowed never to pass it on to others.
