All right so I've been reading through some of the people's comments etc and have come to the conclusion that most of you are fans of anime.
I enjoy anime myself and I was wondering two things.
1. What is your favourite anime?
2. Can you recommend any mystery/thriller/supernatural anime to me as this is something I'd really get into watching?
My favourite anime (I will be listing 5) consist of:
~ Chobits (cute, funny and even though the jokes are quite "guy-ish" I absolutely loved watching this)
~ Fruits Basket (even though I felt the ending was "unfinished" to a point I still REALLY enjoyed this anime).
~ Azumanga Daioh (really cute and amusing anime. Great story)
~ Full Metal Alchemist (my god I thoroughly enjoyed this - one of the longer anime I watched. I usually stick to shorter spanning ones - I highly recommend it)
~ Death Note (fantastic plot and quite gripping)
So what about you guys?

I really enjoy Full Metal Alchemist. The plot is just fantastic and the character development is very strong.

Ah, favourite anime...I'm watched so many good ones and even though Bleach and Naruto are good and fun I think I'll have to go with
Trigun - It's not too long an anime, there's 24 episodes in total. It starts out quite comical and gets more serious and serious as you go, in a real omnious way. The story is good and the characters personalities are clear so you feel with them.
Cowboy Bebop - Brilliant anime. Good music, good characters, good story, good enviorment, everything in it is good. It starts off with two bounty hunters called Spike and Jet.
Vampire Hunter D - I know that this is a movie, but it didn't state that it had to be an anime series. It's a brilliant movie about a world where vampires have risen in power, but then fallen again. It's of how a rich man's daughter gets kidnapped by a vampire lord and how a vampire hunter called D tries to get her back with a group of vampire hunters competing against him in doing so.
Then there's some animes that could well turn out to be my favourite one that I'm still watching...I've gotten to the end of the first season of Death Note and to be honest I'm not sure if I'll keep watching, I was pretty dissappointed in the ending, very anti-climatic.
A second anime I'm in the middle of watching that I gotta get watching again is FullMetal Alchemist. I love the story so far, very gripping and touching. (I'm just on episode 10-15 or so oo)
Another anime I started watching that I need to get watching again, cause it had me interested quite fast, was an anime called Wolf's Rain. The story has me interested and there's no promises on how it'll end, which makes it exciting, it doesn't seem like the kind of anime where the good guys definetly will prevail.
Even though some might of gotten discouraged by stupid fans Naruto and Bleach are good animes and even though they're long they're quite enjoyable.
In Naruto you get attached to the characters of it and believe me, a lot of the stories will make you cry. They've made me cry numerous of times as quite a lot of the stories are touching and emotionally heartwrenching.
In Bleach you also get attached to the characters and the story is quite gripping. You get interested in how it'll end and I swear that you'll at least find one character that you'll love to bits.
Anyway, I think I'm done now...I think. ^.^

Death Note is a little odd... it just depends... you need to be in the mood.

My roommate is addicted to anime, too bad I don't know any of them. Does "Tim and Eric's Awesome Show, Great Job!" count?
I'm gonna have to go with Sailor Moon on this one...

Neon Genesis Evangelion- I like it because it.... Lulz, almost like Trigun except 26 episodes, starts out comical, and after episode 17 it takes a "WTF" turn. End leaves you in a sort of "What the hell happened?"

Anime that leave you going "WTF just happened there" are brilliant Shackel.

As for my favorite, I like a bunch... Naruto, Fullmetal Alchemist, Kodocha, Azumanga Daioh, Air, Tsubasa... and a lot of Japan-exclusive anime like Pretty Cure, Kamichama Karin, Kimi no Kakera... x3
But if someone wants to see a really WTF anime, watch Paprika. It's not a series, just a movie... but damn is it weird. I never actually got to see the ending... mainly because we were watching it in school and apparently the ending is... graphic... xD
Now as for a weird series, I totally recommend Paranoia Agent. It made even less sense than Paprika did (which is saying a lot). I'm still not quite sure what went on in that series... but I love it. xD~ Very creepy and supernatural.

NGE makes a lot less sense, well, it's movie doesnt make ANY sense until you watch it 5 times, watch Ideon, read 5 pages of comments, watch some music videos, wait a week, watch a few parodies, and within a couple of days the ending's meaning should come to you, oh, and does a giant albino naked lady rising out of the ground, a giant naked man coming out of the naked lady, stabbing a robot in its core, turning it into a deformed tree make sense? HM? XD

Paranoia Agent is brilliant! I have it on DVD and the first few episodes hooked me and the rest of it I was like "WTF IS GOING ON?!" I watched it all over two days and once I reached the end I had to go to sleep to try and work it out it was bloody madness.

Same here. The story's amazing and it just gets better as it goes on. :)
My favorite comedy's probably Cromartie High School or Azumanga Daioh.

BOONDOCKS~ It's probably the first Black anime there is.
The Boondocks is not an anime. From its art staff I can see why you would make that mistake, of course, but it itself is not. I agree it is a hilarious show.
My favorites have mostly been destroyed by time.. as in, I rewatched them and realized that they sucked and my love of them was merely a manifestation of my yearning for sunny youth. ;__;
I still like DBZ a lot. It's great because it takes them four episodes just to charge up their powers so if I miss one episode here and there I can still stay with it. Cowboy Bebop was good too, and I liked Marimite.
My memory escapes me at the moment, regardless, I'm not a huge fan of anime on the whole.

Jaicei what was Marimite about? That one sounds vaguely familiar and I have no idea why...

Gah, theres far too many good animes out there for me to pick and choose. But, I do have some favorites: Trigun, Bleach, Naruto, DragonBall Series, Gundam Series, FMA, Cowboy Bebop, S-cry-ed, Outlaw Star, Sailor Moon (My first), Lipin III, Fushigi Yuugi, Samurai X, Peacemaker, Rurouni Kenshin, Kikaider, theres probably more, but thats all I can think of at the moment.
If you want a horror/thriller anime, Try Hellsing or Berserk. Both are very violent and creepy, though I'm still in the middle of both series.

I generally tend to hate animu/mango, but here are the few I enjoy.
Death Note
Bleach
D. Gray-Man
Black Cat (mango only, the animu ruined the entire fucking storyline)

Jaicei what was Marimite about?
It follows a group of students attending a prestigious catholic girl's school; the unique aspects of the school being the council (who basically run everything) and the sister-system (a younger girl is taken under the wing of an older girl to teach her the traditions of the school and support one another). A lot focus in the school is held on ettiquet and cultivation of exceptional young ladies.
It's pure shoujo in every aspect. It is totally character driven with little-to-no action what so ever but rather a focus on the dynamics and relationships between the girls. It is slow-paced and quite well written at times. Some people are totally charmed by it and others are bored out of their minds by it, subsequently.
It's unlicensed so you can download it safely and easily if you want to check out an episode or two.

Where was this thread I ask? Well for me I'm a mix between some old classical manga and new hardcore manga. They would be as follows:
Jojo's bizarre adventure
Dragon Ball series
Rurouni Kenshin
Busou Renkin
Black Cat
Afro Samurai
Dragon Head
Bleach
Naruto
One Piece
Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Death Note
Ai Yori Aoshi (is that how it's spelled?)
Ragnarok
Bastard!!
Fist of the North Star
Mobil Suit Gundam
G-Gundam
The Big O
Blue Gender
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Case Closed
Astro Boy
Cyborg 009
Apollo's Song
DearS
Diabolo
Beet the vandel buster
Bobobo-Bobo-Bobobobo
Dr.Slump
Eyeshield 21
Whistle
Ranma 1/2
InuYasha
Flame of Recca
Full Metal Alchemist
Gunslinger Girl
Tenchi Muyo
There are loads more, just can't remember them. Out of all of them I guess my top 2 favorites would be Jojo's Bizarre adventure and Bleach.
Anyone remember that manga that starred the boxer that got turned into a penguin?

Bobobo-Bobo-Bobobobo~
Ah, this how is freaking hilarious.
I mean, how could a show get so random.
Half of it doesn't make sense, but it really funny in a way.
This has just been added to my list.

Case Closed, Lupin the 3rd and .hack//SIGN are my favorites. I got DVDs for Case Closed and .hack but I can't get anything by the way of Lupin the 3rd.
I used to watch Ruroni Kenshin and Outlaw Star a lot too. But no more. -_-
