What songs did you listen to, that ultimately changed the way your life is now, or the way you lived it? Did any particular song turn you to a particular genre? Or did a certain song help you in a desperate time of need?
I have a few good ones. First of all, 'I'm Not Okay' by My Chemical Romance, was one of the first rock songs I truly enjoyed listened to. I heard it from Burnout 3: Takedown, and it made me truly investigate rock music a little more.
After that, I heard 'With My Mind' by Cold. This song can be found on the game Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy video features. I really, really still love this song, and it made me begin listening to Cold more, which then turned me to more and more rock bands.
So, share your own views, opinions, and whatnot.

Hah, I don't know. Well, we didn't really get into music until we got an ipod (late 2004 or early 2005 I think)
I'd say "100 years" by Five for Fighting sort of got me into Piano Rock though. It's really chill and might just be what will calm you down a bit. I mean I love his songs now.
And perhaps a Green Day song got us a bit into music, but lots of other songs would have driven us further

Bonus points for liking Cold, Deano. <3
Absolution - Muse
Clarity - John Mayer
Both artists rule my life right about now. If I'd never heard Absolution through a friend, I'd never have experienced Knights of Cydonia and Supermassive Black Hole at Wembley. <3
And John's just a riot. His music has changed dramatically over the years, so there's always a song to make me smile.

Ah-ha, I have their first, self-titled album. Who can say that huh? =D
While I'm at it, No One Knows by Queens of the Stone Age drastically changed my musical taste, now making me a huge fan of desert rock. Got all the QotSA albums, some live stuff, and all 10 Desert Sessions. Josh Homme, musically and personally, is a total inspirational GOD to me.

Changes-Tupac
First song that made me realize that I wasn't the only idiot suffering in the streets. Made me a street listener for life. Then came NWA which had shown me the streets of Compton, CA. A place which I fear is much worse than I had to go through. Then came Rise Against which got me into the genre Rock. For some reason they always made songs that would get me pumped.

I love that song, not heard it for ages, but I love it. Tupac is the best lyricist rapper ever. And a fuckin good rapper too.

Wow D, didn't know you listen a bit of the rap. May I also add in another song that had a profound effect on me.
One more chance-Saliva
An old band I believe that had gotten me interested in Hard/Heavy Rock back in 9th grade. I started to listen to a whole bunch of songs by them and a couple others. Good thing this period only lasted briefly otherwise I would've had a really messed status quo.

Anything but techno/dance for me my man. Even jazz gives me a kick.

Too many to list them all, these aren't my absolute favorites, but here are some of the ones I remember from when I was younger and never really stopped liking, so they've probably had the greatest impact:
#1 New Year's Day - U2
#2 By The Way - Red Hot Chili Peppers
#3 Politik - Coldplay
#4 Riot - Dead Kennedys
#5 Pull Me Under - Dream Theater
I like a lot of Techno, especially Daft Punk, but most of it just pisses me off, way too generic, uninspired, and a majority of them are Cascada wannabes.
I'm way more into Classic, Punk, New Wave, Metal, and Grunge rock though. I think as a whole the band that's had the biggest influence is the Beatles, but thats probably true for most people, directly or indirectly (most pop music today is descended from the Beatles' music).

Definitely. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and David Bowie easily had the biggest influences on music of today. And of course, before them, Billie Holiday, anything from the BioShock soundtrack really.

Mirror- Barlow Girls
Anything But Ordinary- Avril Lavinge
Jesus Freak- DC Talk
Like it, Love it, Need it- DC Talk
Reborn- Rebecca St. James
These songs (to me) are really good. And they really helped me find my path when the signs weren't there and I was lost. They helped me realize that I don't need to follow the 'status quo'. That I can just be me. That it is perfectly fine and that I'm not weird or crazy for wanting to go against the flow.

Giant, not just one or two songs by them, but that band saved my life, to sound overdramatic.
Long story short, they made life more enjoyable.
