More :D
Here we read this topic wondering, "What in the world is Legato doing? Where'd all the topics go?" Well, I have removed them. I think it is time that we did not just think of ourselves as ELITE but become ELITE.
In this topic, I will cover: •How to create a good RPing topic.
•How to maintain an RPing topic and what makes an RPing topic good.
•What motivates others to RP?
•How to prolong the life of an RPing topic.
•How to create a good Role Playing topic. To create a Role Playing topic that many people will join can usually be difficult at being well thought out.
•Does it have a plot?
•Is this plot well planned? (Does it have many events; is it deep and filled with details to the bone?)
•Will this RPing topic be open ended? If you have said check to all of these, kudos. However, you need to think of how to tie this in to the members joining the topic. They are not going to like a topic they cannot play around in. They like freedom, except some topics or plots need to have a little leeway in the author's (http://www.sonikku.com/forums/How-to-make-an-RPing-topic-t52988.html#) power to make the members do a certain thing.
To maintain the attention of many members you need to think not just, about what you the author like, but of what the RPers like. What draws others to play a video (http://www.sonikku.com/forums/How-to-make-an-RPing-topic-t52988.html#) game (http://www.sonikku.com/forums/How-to-make-an-RPing-topic-t52988.html#)? It's not the Graphics always, it’s usually the plot and game play.
Try to create a world that you'd like to see in a video game (http://www.sonikku.com/forums/How-to-make-an-RPing-topic-t52988.html#) sometime. Put details where it counts more, and details where you'd not think of as well. If you don't expect your RPers to venture into the desert, you should still have details concerning what's in the desert and side notes for yourself about what may happen if they go there.
Always be prepared for the turn of events that another person may cause.
If the RPing topic is about an Evil overlord and you've just defeated him, allow some downtime for the adventurers, and then spark something new or the same thing. In Final Fantasy (http://www.sonikku.com/forums/How-to-make-an-RPing-topic-t52988.html#) 10, why, you had to battle Seymour more than once didn't you? It's not to say you could have actually defeated them, but you could create more plot by making an even darker Lord that reigned prior to that Lord's rule.
To make it even better you could keep their attention by making the Dark lord in an impenetrable fortress only opened by magic crystals or something of the sort. Which means they’d have to venture to temples or towns and such to perform daring tasks to attain these items or complete certain trials? As long as these are also well thought out, the topic is nearly guaranteed to be good.
To motivate others to RP is a difficult thing. Have they been paying attention to the topic, or have they been in their own little corner of it? Have they been interacting with the other Characters or have they been subdued? Ask yourself questions regarding what they have been doing that caused them to loose interest and try to work on it from there. Ask the RPers what they might like to see in the future of the topic. More adventure or more plots? Perhaps even both? An RPer will loose interest in something if they can't relate to it in some fashion.
