[Sonikku]

Sonikku is my fan character. He is a distant relative of Sonic the Hedgehog and thus, looks similar to him. He is dark green with light blue highlights. He can run almost as fast as Sonic himself. He also possesses the ability to transform into other species using the power of the chaos emeralds.

Yes, it's a crappy recolor because I lack the artistic abilities. Give me a break; it's my first fan art and fan character. If anyone wants to actually draw him for me, I'd be willing to pay them some rings. ^_^ Also, I'm not too creative on names, so if anyone has and better ideas on what I should name him, let me know. :P

Try using a species that Sonic Team hasn't used yet, and don't base their design too heavily off an existing sonic character either. IE, don't make a porcupine by pasting extra spikes on a purple sonic.
Try looking through images and info of exotic animals for inspiration, some of them have really unique natural abilities you could incorporate into your character- like how Horned Lizard's squirt streams of blood from their eyes to stun prey and predators.

It helps a lot if you can draw to some extent or at least have strong visualization skills to get a concrete grip on your character's design.

For their personality, try to make them at least semi-three dimensional. The sonic fandom has pretty low standards in that regards, but nonetheless come up with a character with a different set of ethics, motives and tactics than the canon ones.

Don't over power them; they should not exist only to show up the canons. I personally think most fan characters should not have super forms, but if you want one it's not really a huge deal. One last thing- don't make them related to canon characters. It's considered undesirable and unoriginal in this and most fandoms.

I know how you feel, but as Jacei said don't you have any visual picture of him. You should get some friends to draw him and you might wanna use a fanchar format. The more categories a fanchar has the more detailed it becomes. I saw one that Waddle Dee made back on SZF or you could use the one that Alex Kaisentriefle made (can't spell his name). Develop a villain for him, that usually gets you're history going.

If you can't find a creature you like, make a Hybrid. I have only one Purebred character (Hydronic), but hybrids are easy to design and draw for me.

If you've read before, Sonikku can't draw.
At first I use to trace but over time I developed drawing free-hand character but they're usually in the Starfox style and I'm still working on some problems.

Idunno what else to name him, but change it. Sonikku is Sonic's Japaneese name.
