Discuss your favorite Sonic game here.
Personally, I like Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 the best. They both have great plots (which is a rare thing in the Sonic universe), decent graphics, and plenty of playable characters. The GameCube versions also have cool Multiplayer features.

Hmm, my favorite would have to be Sonic & Knuckles. The game was just so cool to me. Though I never beat it... but still, it was a fun game ^^ I would love to play it again.

I cannot decide which was my favorite. The Megadrive/Genesis/Game Gear series was absolutely outstanding for it's time. Then things kept getting better and better. The Adventure series were amazing. Especially with the Storylines, Music and Character choices. Then came the Gameboy Advance/DS Games and now we got the Next-Gen Sonic as well. Damn it, I can't decide which is my favorite...I guess I love them all as my favorites. (Yes, Kill me on the spot, I like Sonic R. Bite me.)

Sonic R was pretty cool, but its "sequel" Sonic Riders sucked.

Sonic Riders > Sonic R on my opinion...Sonic Riders wasen't half bad..Was a bit glitchy, but the music was nice and also the ability to play as Super Sonic was an awesome addition..Once I got used to it, it became my favorite game for atleast half a year. I loved the music. The f***ing (H)omochao announcer got on my nerves though.

I love Sonic Adventure 2 Battle without a question. It hate the newer games. They look so updated and ugly.

I’d have to say Sonic Adventure 2, it was the game that got me into Sonic the Hedgehog, and one of the best executed games in the series. Though, I prefered the choas in SA1, the game play in SA2 was just better, and more adictive, longer too. I beat the main story of SA1 in just a couple of sit downs, while SA2 took about four months of effort get through.

Sonic Adventure 2 drew me in. I could beat that game in 7 hours. It was just 'Security Hall' with Rouge I believe, the 5 minute one, that got me killed a lot. I fucking hated that level. I liked Sonic R, but I didn't quite like Sonic Riders. Sonic CD got my attention too.

Yeah, Secuity Hall got me too, and the second to last level with Sonic, I'd always die in the gravity room. I also had this habitual issue where if I got a E, or a D as my grade in a level I felt like I had to do it over. Rouge's Mad Space killed me with that habit.
Natla of Atlantis
June 22nd, 2007, 02:07 PM
The gravity room was super fun for me. I loved to do that. It was always my favorite part of the level. I just hate getting the A ranks for the time trialed Rouge/Tails speed chase levels, I can never reach Tails or the President in time. I mean, I can be right there, man, but time stops. I didn't even look at the time trial with Security Hall.

I could do Tail's fine, that was a good level, I used it to get massive amounts of rings so that I could buy choa eggs. Rouge's though... I could never get anything above a C... >.> I still can't get all the emblems from that level, I can't get through it in enough time when trying not to run into walls. It is disheartening when you're like, three seconds away from finishing the level, and the timer stops. It always happens on that long streight strech at the end too.
Securty Hall is easy once you get used to the clues, and which one gose to which emerald's position, and with a little bit of luck the emerald wont be too far out of the way, or confusing to get to. I also find that with the time, unless you totally suck, you'll get an A, the bigest issue was finding one hundred rings with a good time.

I was better with Sonic/Shadow levels than anyone else. Knuckles/Rouge levels were always my downfall. I'm better at boss battles in any game than I am an actual level where you have to stratetically think it out, yano? 'S why I bombed the level.

I always did the best with Eggman's and Tail's levels, though I found that Sonic and Shadows levels were the funest. I've always been better at Puzzle games, and turn based RPG's. I don't usually have to coordination to do platformors well, but I supprise myself sometimes.
Natla of Atlantis

I'm better at action and platformers. I suck with puzzles and such. Typical me. Some of the Sonic levels are tough for me that way.

I have all A's in Knuckeles, but I can't do Rouge's Mad Space, I can't beat the Time Trial, at All, and I think I have a D for it's grade...

I have all A's with Shadow. I have one B with Sonic, and it's irritating me. =P I remember with Chao, I had a bunch of new emblems for them, and I worked for a long time on Champ, and he turned back to an egg, and I'd just gotten the beach ball for the chao, and I turned it off and back on, and it deleted everything, even Champ. Kinda made me give up on the game.

June 26th, 2007, 02:24 PM
:S I had one really good chao, but... I erased him... so sad. He was a Shadow, he had no feet, and he wore a box on his head. So cute...
I always get a B in Sonic's "Pyramid" level. I always fall short by about 100 points, due to time, and when ever I try to rush through the level I fall off, miss and enemy or somthing.
Natla of Atlantis
June 27th, 2007, 08:01 AM
Yep. I hate losing Chao. Especially after you worked so hard on them. I didn't want to lose him, and when I tried to prevent it, I lost everything, even the Chao itself. I was really mad. =P
That's like me in the Time Trials. When I'm running through most Time Trials, I can't really take my time, because I feel incredibly rushed. And you know what? Tomb Raider is starting to get Time Trials. Friggin' WEAK.

When I do time trails with Sonic's levels I'm fine with reacting fast (which give me the advantage when I'm versing other people) I just usually crash into the walls. Not with Shadow though always with Sonic

Personally I'm torn between SA1 and SA2. I like both of them, but I'm not sure which I like more. SA1 had an interesting plot line with certain things only certain characters could do, very genius. I also liked in SA2 how you could play as Eggman.
Anna
June 30th, 2007, 09:33 PM
Both of them had their good points. I just felt like SA1 was too easy, at least SA2's main story line was more challenging.
Legato
July 4th, 2007, 05:24 PM
Agreed, but the part at which SA2 gets annoying is when there is too much going on for the plot to keep in check. mainly when they are up in space, the plot seems to get a little sketchy from side to side.

I'm playing as Sonic in Chao World using my baby chao Chronosis as a Dodgeball, throwing it against the wall then bouncing back to me over and over again.

I've always said Sonic CD for the Mega/Sega CD was the best, and i still stick by that, despite the fact i havent played it for months now.
Lately, i've been playing SA2:B a lot, in an attempt to finally earn every single emblem (unlike the way i cheated for the Dreamcast version). Having said that, i've also found myself playing Sonic Spinball and S3&K recently.

I have the Japanese version of Sonic Gems Collection, which is good cause it has Sonic CD with it's better soundtrack, along with Streets of Rage and Bonanza Bros. I bought my original Sonic CD when i was on holiday to England a couple of years ago, and with it being the European version, it has the same soundtrack as Japan. ^.^

~NatlaIt really isn't a sequel. If it was a sequel then Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and other characters would just be running. This game shows what time they're for the series with gadgets and extreme gear. Besides, I get enough running just by playing the other games.

Sonic R too, it was nice.Hell yeah.
People hate that game because those fuckfences at Screw Attack said it was the worst Sonic game ever made. What a load of shite.
The music was fucking awesome, and although the gameplay wasnt top-class, it was still a fun game. The fact Screw Attack took the piss out of the music was just ....... the fucking worst thing ever. If anything, the music from Sonic R was some of the best in any Sonic game. I mean, Richard Jacques for God's sake! He's one of the best video game composers out there, along with Yuzo Koshiro and Rob Hubbard.
To say it's the worst Sonic game ever because of the gameplay and the music is just fucking wrong. Those arsewanks at Screw Attack need to try playing Sonic Labyrinth, Sonic Blast, or that shitty Sonic Jam game for a Tiger console or something (not the Saturn version. That was awesome).

For me it would have to be the almighty Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis.
Although I certainly get enjoyment out of the 3D sonic games, for me sonic works best as a 2D platformer, and to be honest Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a very difficult game to fault.
The music is absolutely spot on, the zones look great, the level design is fantastic throughout (I cant think of one level I didnt enjoy getting through on that game) and its just about the right length. There's a real sense of progression and the epic feel you get as you take to the skies in Sky Chase Zone, and launch the assault on Eggman's Winged FOrtress, its an unforgettable moment in gaming for me.
As a sonic game its impossible to fault and it an absoutely stellar platformer.
Yes, as you can tell, I like this game XP
