1. Flaming

Flaming is telling someone that what they've written is bad without being able to give a proper reason why.
This is a special case I won't even give a verbal warn here, I'll just warn you because this in unacceptable.
Give C&C instead.


2. Effort

Make a profile that consists only of.
Name: John
Age: 17
Specie: Hedgehog
History: He's Sonic neglected brother.
And I'll tell you to detail it A LOT more. Refuse to comply and I'll simply delete the topic.


3. Spelling and Grammar

I will not, and I reapeat NOT see any text language in the character descriptions. Use Proper English!
You do not talk like 'How R U Dude?' or 'H33l plz' etc in realife, do you?
I will see proper english or proper any other lanuage that you use, but I will not see fucking text language here.


4. Grammer, Spelling and Posting

Yes folks, your worst nightmare has come true.
It is now against the rules to post with text language, with great grammatic errors and, like usual, double posting and posting less then 5 words is wrong.

Swearing isn't against the rules, thats more of a moral issue then anything else.

What IS against the rules though is your double posting, which I've told you to lay of for quite some time now.

Start acting your age and you might realise that you get more respect.

Means posting twice or more in a row, like Double means more then one and Posting means making a post.
Doesn't take a genius and double posting is against the rules on any good forums on the net.

If I may I'd like to post a quote made by Jaícei. It may help you if you're stuck in a rut about designing/profiling a character:


Try using a species that Sonic Team hasn't used yet, and don't base their design too heavily off an existing sonic character either. IE, don't make a porcupine by pasting extra spikes on a purple sonic.
Try looking through images and info of exotic animals for inspiration, some of them have really unique natural abilities you could incorporate into your character- like how Horned Lizard's squirt streams of blood from their eyes to stun prey and predators.

It helps a lot if you can draw to some extent or at least have strong visualization skills to get a concrete grip on your character's design.

For their personality, try to make them at least semi-three dimensional. The sonic fandom has pretty low standards in that regards, but nonetheless come up with a character with a different set of ethics, motives and tactics than the canon ones.

Don't over power them; they should not exist only to show up the canons. I personally think most fan characters should not have super forms, but if you want one it's not really a huge deal. One last thing- don't make them related to canon characters. It's considered undesirable and unoriginal in this and most fandoms. (;

one tip: don't use caps for the start of every word, it just makes it difficult to read.

I don't give a shit if you accept the rules, they're there to be followed and if most people think your profile too short then that's they're opinion, live with it.

One reason for even posting your profile is to get outside opinions on it, that's why I've been welcoming the criticism on my character Shatter. sometimes someone else can think up something you had never considered and it could make the difference between having a fresh, new character that is interesting to read about, or just another Mary-Sue that people will sigh at and lump in with all the others that will fade just as quickly.

So when people ask you to try adjusting something, they aren't just being a jerk and making you do extra work, they actually want your character to be better and something that you can be very proud of creating.
