Garaa, Shadow doesn't look anything like Sonic... I don't know why people say that. They both look like entirely different hedgehogs. They are just part of the same species. This only has a little bit of opinion. Oh and Shadow is actually faster than Sonic because of his shoes.

I'm going to go with Metal Sonic. Why because he was in the series for a long time. Mephiles would have to be second in my book. *Gets shot by Mephiles fans* True Mephiles is cunning, deavious and etc. But there was one thing he lacked, villainous style. Last time I checked the trademark evil laughter was Eggman's. Metal Sonic however, had the cunning and deavious. But what made him stand out was his murderous intent on Sonic.

It's really hard to choose. Eggman's been around since the beginnin' and has pulled off some rather devious tricks, but then again, there's Mephiles, who was no only manipulating, but was the ONLY villian who actually KILLS the titular character. I have not once ever seen any video game villian who actually successfully kills the main character
