For the ones who HAVEN'T seen it:

The Golden Compass is about an orphan girl who lives in an alternate world similar to earth, but where people's souls exist out of their bodies in animal form. The people are ruled by an oppressive councul known as the Magisterium, which is doing it's best to keep everyone from getting information about what is called "Dust." Lyra's uncle has been researching Dust, and he has seen to it that Lyra is given safe shelter at Jordan College. But when the visiting Mrs. Coulter arrives, she asks Lyra to accompany her on a trip to the North to meet the Panserbjorne, a race of armored bears.

I don't want to give out too much.

For the ones who HAVE seen it:

I loved how cute the animals and demons (souls) were and their reactions to situations and people. The demons and animals in general were my favorite part of the movie. My favorite character, though, was Ireok Bernison, one of the armored bears.

Comments? Rants? Suggestions? Alternate endings? Favorite characters?

I thought the movie's storyline was great. The action was awesome and this is as well.
That's my 2 cents.

I remember reading all three books.

I really loved the book, and i've always wanted to see the movie, but I still haven't gotten the chance to see it, because i'm wasting all my money on games and not movie tickets =P

Does it end where the 1st book ends? or where the final book ends?

The movie was ok. Not very good, but not bad either, but yes, the animals were cute though :3

Only read the first book, and I love the movie. Do have to admit though, it's complicated during certain points concerning the Aletheometer, you have to follow it closely during those moments because it's easy to get lost-- Sort of like the movie adaptation of The Da Vinci Code.
