Now, I understand that oil and gas prices are skyrocketing this year, because where I live it's getting up on $4 a gallon. My mom, my sister and I were discussing this, and they both seem to know that the oil and gas supply in the middle eastern countries are not going down, or running out quickly or anything.
So what is the meaning of this? Also, how high are the prices where you live?

Gas is being a bitch to us. Ever since Katrina ended, They used as an excuse to increse prices.
Also, by the time I can drive, gas will be $7.
Gas is Fucking us up.

Where I live, at some stations, Premium gas is about $4.00 . Regular, though, is about $3.50. Still, that is not acceptable. I think one of the big reasons we have these high gas prices is the war in iraq. Alot of the oil we drill is over there, and we're sure not getting it from them easily. Getting oil from a wartime-inflicted zone makes the oil value go up.

Now, I personally don't really try to keep up with this stuff, but from my understanding, they should stop drilling oil over there, and start drilling somewhere where there is no need for war.

Gas prices are not going up because of us or the war it is because of the greedy Arab oil companies who are using the war as an excuse. they just see it as a way to put more money in their pockets.Which is bullshit because after we sacrificed our own money to send in troops to get rid of this dictator they had and they decide to screw us in the ass. Bullshit.

So its not just australia thats got the prices going up. Its about $1.40 on average, maybe $1.30, and the goverment is "going" to decrease the GST on petrol. (I'll be very surprised if Kevin Rudd actually does.)

Bush has his own oil company, which now has monopoly on all the oil in Iraq, this being the place where quite a large amount of our oil comes from.
So it's the greedy son of a bitch that you call the President of the United States of America that is the reason for the Oil prices hitting the roof.
The arab oil companies must of made their prices higher when Bush got monopoly on the oil in Iraq.

Actually one of the big reasons these high gas prices exist is because there was a large percentage of our oil coming from the number of oil rigs in Louisiana. And what happened to Louisiana's coast in 2005? That's right, Hurricane Katrina. That hurricane tore up the oil rigs and kicked up the gas prices higher and faster than any increase recorded in history.

Three words: We...are...SCREWED. We were screwed since the day that bastardized piece of shit we call our president first trudged the halls of the oval office. I don't think a new president is going to do anything. Ten bucks says that inflammation and a depression is going to happen pretty soon.

Bush administration
War in the arabs caused this
corn oil isn't growing fast enough
I just love bias and fallacious answers. Whether those are true or not... it only shows us how dependant we have become on these crude commodities and we seek to blame it on someone. I wonder who...
In comparison, gas price is $1.30 a litre here in Ontario, so thats...
1.3 x 3.78
= $4.94 approx per gallon... and that's in Canadian dollars (so at lease $5 a gallon)
Don't be too upset at the soaring gas prices...
high gas priced forced motor companies one idea... produce gas efficient or energy efficient vehicles... and I don't mean come up with the idea (because that idea already existed years and years ago). What I mean is full scale research and development. Now a lot of cars coming out are getting smaller (smart car!) and hybridized. If it werent for soaring gas prices, I can bet you that energy efficient advancement would be delayed for another decade! (nevermind the global warming concerns).

The silly thing about canadian gas prices is that we produce our own oil, we just ship 99% of it to our dear good friend America. Say what you want about Saudi Arabia, but Canada supplies the most oil to the states.
But when it comes down to it, it's all about profit. Companies want to make as much as they can for as long as they can off as many people as they can.
Ah, society, how you've raped and pillaged us all.

Completely true. If we didn't get oil from Canada, our prices would be a lot higher then they are now. Get a smaller car, as simple as that. Hell, walk to where you need to go, maybe America could use this opportunity and stop being the fattest county in the world.

Spain, Portagul, and nearby France had a strike a few weeks ago protesting on oil and food price increase. Honestly, what can be done? What exactly are they hoping to achieve? Whats your opinion?
Here's another question... what should be done and how/why?
