Now when you usually see the name Square Enix you think either Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts. Now, there is another game to remember them by: The World Ends With You. Is this a new top notch game or does it belong in the junk heap of new ideas?
Story:
You start the game with Neku how he hates everyone and he only cares about himself. EMO!!! Next thing you know Neku wakes up in the middle of a busy intersection in Shibuya with a pin in your hand that lets you read minds. Neku receives a text message saying he has to reach the 104 building in 60 minutes or he'll be erased. Not knowing what to do he decides to run away from it all. EMO!!! After title run of Neku's running, you run into Shiki who somewhat forces you into a pact and then the story will have to be the rest of you to know. But, I can tell you that you learn you are in a game called the Reaper's game run by ...*gasp* reapers! Do what the missions tell you to do in seven days and you'll survive if not prepare to be erased from the face of the earth. Overall, the story is very well thought through and with so many twists and turns in the game, you know it's a sure fire hit. Story: 9.5/10
Gameplay:
First, to move in the game, you can use the control pad, A,B,X,Y buttons, or, like in Phantom Hourglass, touch screen. To go into battle, you touch your player's pin at the bottom right hand corner of the touch screen where you can read people's thoughts or touch noise which are these weird floating symbols. When you battle it involves using both screens. You control Neku on the touch or bottom screen with your stylus and have him attack using the stylus or mic, in some cases. You gain abilities through pins you find after battle or bought from a store. Meanwhile your partner attacks on the top screen and you can control them with the control pad (right-handed people) or the ABXY buttons (left-handed people). Your partner also earns points for whatever combo thing they do right, one you reach a level, you can do a certain final blow on the noise (enemies) by touching the pin that shows on the top right area of the touch screen. Not to mention, whatever clothes you are wearing has different stats in each different area you go into. Depending what's in fashion and what's not, but I hardly ever pay attention to it. Also, eating food changes your stats through strength, bravery, and more. This certain element of gameplay is a lot put into it, the only problem I have is the fashion sense in the game, not much people pay attention to it. Overall, gameplay gets an 8/10.
Design:
The character designs are a Kingdom Hearts- esque design, but since they are from Tetsuya Nomura, director of Kingdom Hearts, you can't complain. The graphics in the game may be 16- bit, but they fit perfectly with the game without trying to put in Xbox 360 graphics in a handheld. Overall, 9.0/10.
Presentation:
The World Ends With You is a sharp-looking DS with a well-thought out story, well-done graphics, and excellent gameplay this is a surefire game you don't wanna miss. Overall: 8.5/10
Summmary:
The World Ends With You is a game that has made it's way onto the must-have DS titles list next to Phantom Hourglass and Mariokart DS. If you are a fan of RPG's then please go getthis game now! If you don't have a DS then get one along with this game because you won't be dissapointed. Those long looking for a fun and harmless game out of GTA 4's way than you could consider even though it has a "T" (Teen) rating for Fantasy Violence, Mild Language, and Mild Suggestive Themes. In other words, get off this computer rush to the nearest game store and buy a copy of this game!
AVERAGE: 8.8

I'm currently playing that game! It's great :D But I think I'm at the final boss now so I think the game was a little short.. But again, I have heard that theres more things to do after the final boss is defeated.
