Would anyone here be interested in doing a guild-type thing similar to what was on the old SZF? Each EarthClan would get it's own group page and sub forum. The leader of the EarthClan would be able to approve new members and moderate the forum. Click here (http://www.sonicearth.com/group.php) to see what the EarthClans would look like. I would remove the existings groups in there, obviously.

The traffic wasn't an issue, since it's never going to happen. Sonic's been on the steady road to obscurity for the last few years, with each one of his games isolating and turning away of the fanbase.

Nobody really cares enough anymore. And with the rise of personal sites such as Facebook, Myspace and Bebo, people don't use forums as much as they could.

Clans idea, we had that too. Nintendo, Capcom, Sega and the like, then broken down into secondary groups, such as the Capcom main having Megaman and Resident Evil as its subsidiaries, which in turn during a clan event could possibly team up, if they so wished.

If this is going to work, it's going to need a hell of a lot more prep. Not just "oh shit something new throw it in the forum and hope for the best."

Because that worked SO well with the comic, didn't it, Adam.

While I agree with the traffic not being easy, in our defense (the mod team at the time on SZF) we worked hard on ideas, skins etc, and much more stuff to do to make the place more fun, but when the new guys came it was basically reduced to "LOL NO WE LIKE WOLVES".

Which was a kick in the nuts since every mod at the time put a lot of effort to keep the place fresh.

I am getting the feeling neither one of us know what you're point is anymore.

I can understand the clans going to shit at SZF. About 90% of everything that went into SZF in the last 18 months or so of its life went to shit. And yes, Sonic's not a huge deal anymore, but it's all the more reason to move away from Sonic and try to attract gamers in general, rather than a specific breed of gamer.

I don't know. I just didn't like the assholism with no follow-up suggestions or justification whatsoever.

I think we can all agree a forum dying is no one's fault, nor is it a big enough deal to bother finding someone to jab an index finger at.

Well i still agree with them saying that clans don't work. I am an admin of a site that has this as it's main basis as an rp site. That has an active game server and everything, lemme tell yah that it really is a pain. Too many people want there own way and ideas to be used.

So the clans will only cause more problems. Plus this site dosen't even have the member base to be able to have more than 2 groups. They don't attract members either, they usually do the opposite. Then only those diehards stick around, or enough friends for them to actually want to.

Well perhaps I can start a different site on a different domain that focuses on a broader topic, but still keep Sonic Earth running. I like the social networking aspects of vBulletin, maybe I can build off that.
