Prologue
Senior General Than Shwe was the Commander in Chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces, known as Tatmadaw and also led the State Peace and Development Council, which was really just a fancy name for the military dictatorship that had taken over in 1988. He was a sullen and withdrawn 'leader', who stayed in the shadows, unlike the dynamic Fidel Castro, who had ceded control of Cuba to his brother Raoul earlier. He had diabetes and was rounded. He looked like a grandfather, but Grandpa Than wasn't the kind of grandfather to invite to Christmas dinner. While most of his country was poor and desolate, he spent treasury money on his daughter's wedding. He suppressed free speech and democracy.

But the worse thing that he did was to disallow foreign aid to enter the country after Cyclone Nargis. The Category Four tropical cyclone had laid waste to the country, having started on April 27th and having disappeared on May 3rd. The United Nations and the European Union had extended the olive leaf and Shwe had taken his garden shears to it. Dissent was slowly growing among both the civilians and the military. One of the ministers had allowed private aid relief groups to enter.

Some of them were fronts. They knew that. There was always some form of chaos during a major disaster. Slavery rings, prostitution, mis-allocation of resources, looting, murder, rape. It was all commonplace. Sparse reports had come in, about a certain aid group run by a doctor named Ivo Robotnik, taking in several thousand Burmese refugees and using them for manual labor. Those that escaped called him Eggman, for he was even more round than Than Shwe. They told some low-level government officials about the machines he was having them build. He called them robots.

Robots, Such nonsense. Shwe had thought. The Americans according to intelligence given by their Chinese compatriots, hadn't developed full fledged robots yet. Their UAVs and military utility robots were either human guided or had very rudimentary programs.

He was wrong. There were indeed full-fledged robots.

And Ivo Robotnik had the only ones in the world.

He would take control of the State Peace and Development Council within 30 days. On the 30th day, he personally killed Than Shwe.

And took one step to the first war of the 21st century.
