Yes, Sega's made a press statement: link (http://www.sega.com/corporate/corporate.php?item=pr_20080403a)

Interesting stuff:
"It is an exciting time for the Sonic franchise as we look to reinvent our hero while staying true to the spirit of what made him an industry icon," said Sean Ratcliffe, Vice President of Marketing at SEGA of America. "Sonic Unleashed will introduce a new, unexpected storyline along with innovative gameplay that compliments traditional skills and features, allowing players to experiment and engage in new ways."

Sonic Unleashed will offer a re-defined experience for fans and newcomers of the franchise alike by combing picturesque & detailed scenery, an expansive world with multiple paths to choose from and dynamic viewpoints for an immersive and renewed gaming atmosphere. Along with seamless 3D to classic 2D camera transitions, the game is built on a powerful, new proprietary "Hedgehog Engine," which introduces impressive lighting abilities and new technology tailor made for Sonic's new speed capabilities. Under development for approximately three years, the Hedgehog Engine will help to produce a visually rich next generation look and feel with elements of classic Sonic gameplay components.

Three years, eh? Since it seems as though Sega is more concerned with trying to DEVELOP a good game rather that how quickly they'll profit from it, this game could actually be good.

That depends on if they are developing it for three years and not just releasing it in afterwards. If you know what i mean. If not, Im saying that they could just slack off and spend about half the time they said they would devote to developing it.

Sounds pretty cool. It's supposed to come out near the end of the year, so I'm looking forward to it.

The graphics look very nice. Alot nicer then StH and the gameplay looks like a mix between the classic 2-d sonic and the new 3-d sonic. Cant wait till it comes out

The funny thinh is that it's coming out on all of the platforms that people currently play.. it's like they're trying to be like COD4 or something... anyway it looks awesome!:D

BONANZA BROTHERS, FOR EXAMPLE.

From what I've seen in trailers and such, it's looking promising so far. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that Sega gets it right this time.

Hey retard, already a topic discussing the game, ain't you great.

Hmmm... Really?

I know exactly what you're referring to, and I'd ask you to prove it, and you'd link me to the post earlier down in the forum, and I'd tirelessly explain to you that this is official information as opposed to leaks and and speculation, and two posts of correspondence later you'd finally get it through your head and leave, and this thread would be miles and miles of fail.

But I'll save us all of that and just say.... no... you're just a fool.

Anyway, apparently this is shooting for a late 2008 release? There's no use waiting on this one because my brother will buy it anyway, so I might as well pick it up right away.

UPDATE: MORE INFORMATION, SONIC UNLEASHED WILL NOT HAVE ANY RELATION TO THE PREVIOUS TWO INSTALLMENTS (thank god)!!!!

I think it's kinda cheep that Sega is coping Twilight princess. Hopefully the wolf stages won't kill the game

Since E3, there has been more info released about this game. Check out the Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_unleashed) entry.

Lately, the newest sonic games don't have
tails or knuckles as a main playable character,
which kind of disapoints me.

I always look forward to new Sonic games and this one is no different. I really like the song they played in the first video and the transformation thing looks cool, though I hope it doesn`t get in the way much nor that it`s something permanent. I certainly am going to get this game!

But what about other characters?

Copied my post from nearly a week ago in the 360 version of this topic:

Saw the E3 trailer. I'm actually looking forward to the game now.

Jaret Reddick did the theme song <3 Bowling for Soup ftw

The speed looks intense. As long as they don't bungle it up, it'll be able to appeal to the older generation as well as bring in the new folk. The emerald infused Were-Sonic sections look fairly good as well, braking up the speed levels with a hack 'n' slash element.

Sega used to be decent with these, Streets of Rage anyone?

So I have high hopes for this. If only because I fucking love the new song, Endless Possibilities, lol

Forgot to add: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=W34KDVQF

I made a better rip of the song. 128 bitrate is just SUCH a poor quality.

I'm an audio snob.

I read this mag on Sonic Unleashed. According to them it's good, but of course everyone's worrying about Sonic's Werehog form. Let's just hope that it's a game worth getting.

I've seen it... It's pretty gay.

I've seen it... It's pretty gay.

The only thing I don`t like about it is the gorilla arms on a hedgehog body combo (gene-splicing??) and hopes that it`s not a permanent thing. I think it would be cool to mess around with it in one game but that`d be it.

The game looks pretty good. maybe this will make up for Sonic 06 ( never played 06 I just heard that that game was terrible)

They say that the upcoming game, Sonic Unleashed is supposed to be released sometime later this year. So far, I am not impressed with the way that they made up Sonic in a Wherewolf form and personally I think it sucks. See, look:-

I do personally hate the werehog idea too.... But the game play in this game doesn't look to bad. So I'll might give this game a chance.

I think Unleashed is worth buying, honestly. I've seen the trailers, and the game play looks awesome. hell of a lot better than Secret Rings, that's for sure.

Ugh Question..... why are their three sonic games being created at the same time?
(Sonic unleashed, Sonic Chronicles, Sonic and that knight game)

All by different people, I think. It could also be trying to cover up a potential failure hoping that one would save the others.

This game does look good and I'm considering buying it...but I think Sonic Chronicles have my biggest interest out of the three...After that I have to admit that it's Sonic And The Black Knight, cause I LOVE the stories about King Arthur. <3

I though that would have been your favorite since you'll be starring in the game. =P

Yeah. I know. off topic. Couldn't help but put this in here though, it's win. xD..I still stand my earlier point, regardless--it does look like a good game.
